Civilian Printing

Civilian Printing in Kitchener is an established print shop located in the downtown core.  Although a print shop by definition, they are so much more.  Civilian is comprised of three facets: the print shop, a unique clothing line and local concert promotion.  They are a company that promotes both culture and community in Kitchener-Waterloo.

A Family Affair

Founded by brothers Curt and Cory Crossman, Civilian was something the brothers ‘fell into’ through their love of music.  They were already heavily involved in promoting concerts and were hiring other companies to print band t-shirts and merchandise.  It occurred to them that they could do it themselves which led them to where they are today.

What Services are Offered?

Wide varieties of services are offered from screen printing and heat transfers to embroidery and specialty printing.  Customers include many local businesses and corporations, educational institutions such as University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier, personalized t-shirts for wedding parties and of course merchandise for local bands, which is how Civilian started.

What Makes Civilian Unique?

When I asked them what made their business unique Curt said the business is “smaller so we can pay more attention to your individual job” and Cory added that they’re a “tight-knit group.  There isn’t high turnover so you get consistent results.”  This is what gives them their edge and helps them create a high quality product for their customers.

They also have their own clothing line, ARC Cloathing, which can be through at their store on Queen Street.  They have some really cool designs and the line is ironically very affordable considering the uniqueness of their pieces.

How is Civilian Involved Locally?

A lot of people do not realize that Curt and Cory are the masterminds behind KOI Music Festival which takes place downtown Kitchener.  This three day event showcases over 150 local artists and is a mandatory event for any music lover.

Civilian also puts together ARC Battle a concert series where bands compete to win some fabulous prizes including a slot on the main stage of KOI Music Festival.

Hello There, Love the website and definitely going to check out the shop. In the meantime, could you please provide me a quote for printing 8 shirts with a logo on front and a different logo on back? I have Illustrator files for set-up and heat transfer is probably cheapest, but you are the experts. Please quote both Glidan (or other econo brand) and American Apparel. Thank You Kindly, Marty
