Video – A trip through Cambridge to L.A. Franks
I met up with Amanda again the other day, this time in Cambridge. The Mill Race Folk Music Festival is this weekend. It’s a big summer event for downtown Cambridge, several venues over three days. The main stage is in a really scenic spot along the Grand River, near lots of parking and the shops and restaurants of Galt.
Frankly, I needed an excuse to visit L.A. Franks again. That’s the real reason I wanted to meet in Cambridge. I try to make it to “Franks” at least once every summer and I’m glad I made it again this year. If you don’t know L.A. Franks – two words – gourmet hotdogs. They changed the menu a bit this year with an addition – the Southwest Dog, which was excellent. It comes with a chipotle mayo, bacon and onions.
Arf, arf, yummy. Good dog.
Mill Race and L.A. Franks are closely related in term of geography, so make sure you sample a few items from their menu while at the folk festival this weekend. Amanda suggested we have the french fries with homemade Thousand Island dressing liberally poured on top, with bacon and green onion too. Good suggestion.
The frozen lemonade was excellent.
On the way to “Franks”, Amanda told me about all the movies upcoming in Cambridge and Guelph. There really is something about summertime and outdoor movies, sitting under the stars in the cool summer night, fun for the whole family.
And I told her about my newest discovery – the Baden Corn Festival! It’s a celebration of local food (including corn) coming up on the weekend just out of town, in Baden.
On the other side of Kitchener Waterloo, out in Fergus, the Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games is coming up. Its a celebration of haggis, kilts, fiddle music and throwing heavy things around, kind of like my college days!
So that’s it. There’s always lots to do in Kitchener Waterloo and Cambridge too. You should do something.
