Video – Talking about Things to do in Kitchener Waterloo
I met up with Amanda Maxwell yesterday afternoon. We talked, like we always do about Things to do in Kitchener Waterloo. We talked about things to do in Cambridge too, which reminds me, two words – Mill Race.
That’s coming up in about ten days. It’s a good one, a folk music festival in downtown Galt along the Grand River.
We were in Waterloo Park because one of my favorite things to do in Kitchener Waterloo is the Music and Movies in the Park series. Tonight is, Escape From Planet Earth – the first movie of the summer. The last movie of the summer will be E.T. Its a classic and where better to see it than in the cool comfort of Waterloo Park – home of the world’s largest inflatable movie screen. (It’s even bigger than the one in Dubai!)
Also coming up in Waterloo Park this weekend is Afro Fest. If it’s as humid as last week there sure will be a lot of Afros. It’s the 12th year running of this festival celebrating African Culture, so if you haven’t visited, you should. 10,000 people are expected to attend.
We also talked about Steven Page, formally of the Bare Naked Ladies, tartan tea, things for kids to do and the upcoming Buskers Festival – the signal to the end of summer, but otherwise a laugh riot of human contortionists, jugglers, funnymen and acrobats, (and that’s just the audience).
So there is always lots to do in Kitchener Waterloo (and Cambridge too). Our parks are busy with free yoga, Baseball Day (coming up), movies, music, Rifest (last week)…Our city centers are busy with music – Kitchener Blues Festival will be held in a couple of weeks – the Jazz festival was last weekend.
And food. Don’t miss this. The first ever Food Truck Festival is this Sunday July 28. Nom nom nom. I have to try the Great British Bake.
