Rum Runner Pub

AntijitosIf you haven’t been to the Rum Runner Pub for dinner before, you are missing out!  It is a hidden gem located smack dab in the middle of downtown Kitchener in the basement of the historic Walper Hotel.  Home to Yuk Yuk’s Kitchener, it is also home to a gastronomical food experience!  Liz always greets people with a large smile on her face and is eager to help you with beer or meal selection.  Chef Darryl has curated a large menu filled with what makes for an incredible food experience.  With only fresh ingredients, it is truly a meal that you will remember.

For Starters:

We started off with their Antijitos which is a blend of cream cheese, jalapenos and tex mex cheese.  They were crispy and had a bit of a bite.  They were great for sharing as we were starving when we got there.

Brie BurgerMain Meals:

I was in the mood for a burger.  New to their menu is the Brie and Red Onion burgers.  Liz recommended that as it was new and they were getting excellent reviews of it.  I was not disappointed as I thoroughly enjoyed it.  The burger itself was thick and juicy.  Then to top it off with the Brie and caramelized red onion was a real treat.  It came with a pickle, tomato and lettuce.  I added Ketchup and mustard at the table.  As a side I chose their fries which are always fresh and never frozen.  They were crispy and perfectly seasoned with salt.  I didn’t have to add more salt and I didn’t find them overly salty…they were just right.

The other main meal we had was that Singapore Noodles.  They had massive Tiger Shrimp, chicken, green & red peppers, curry in the chefs special Asian sauce coating rice noodles, green onions & black sesame seeds.  It was spicy yet favourful! They will even kick up the heat metre if you like it super spicy!

Singapore NoodlesCost:

Antijitos – $7.29

Brie & Red Onion Burger: – $10.59

Singapore Noodles – $13.29

Fun Nights:

Every Thursday night the Rum Runner Pub hosts Poker Night!  Registration is at 6:30 with the game starting at 7pm.  They also host Murder Mystery Nights.  You will have to call to find out when the next night is however, they’re usually monthly.  It’s $40 with cocktails at 7:30 and dinner at 8pm.  It makes for a great night out!
