Review: Shrek the Musical at The Centre in the Square
Shrek the Musical at the Centre in the Square in Kitchener is a must see show for the family! No matter what age your child is…or if you’re a big child yourself…you will definitely enjoy Shrek the Musical! I honestly didn’t know what to think before we went to see it but we were both greatly impressed by the performers and the script.
The actors playing Shrek and Princess Fiona did a fantastic job portraying their characters however there were a few other characters that I felt were scene stealer’s. Lord Farquaard was hilarious and larger than life and Pinocchio was super cute usual. My favourite from the Shrek movie, the gingerbread man, made an few appearances as well. I didn’t know how they were going to incorporate him but they did a fantastic job!
The chorus numbers were wonderfully choreographed and the set designs created the perfect settings. The costumes were well done, especially that of Lord Farquaard which was created to give him the perfect stature. There was also the impressive dragon which was completely unexpected and totally cool. They definitely did a great job incorporating everything the story needed to keep it the same as the movie.
The musical runs for approximately 2 hours plus an intermission. If you’re looking for a fun family outing before the kids go back to school, I highly recommend you go see Shrek the Musical at Centre in the Square. If you don’t have kids…but you want to feel like a kid…check out Shrek the Musical. It was a fun night out…even for adults!
