365 things to do in Kitchener Waterloo – the end of the world
We are almost there. At this time next week, the presents will be all wrapped up and under the tree, Santa will have the reindeers ready, the turkey will be standing by to be popped into the oven for a nice roasting and the Christmas cheer will be flowing freely. It will almost be time to go to mass or break out the board games or sit by the fire or whatever the combination of these your family tradition is.
But wait. We still have another week to go, get ready. We’ve still got another week of things to do. Coming up we have Victorian Carolers in UpTown Waterloo, the Elephant Man at the Conrad Centre, the Wonders of Winter, a fantasy walk and the end of the world as we know it.
(I feel fine.)
Last week we had Strummerfest – a multi-venue music festival held in downtown Kitchener in memory of singer/songwriter Joe Strummer. I think we can safely say that we adequately rocked the casbah. Our date night was a little different – mostly because it happened in the afternoon. And of course the Barenaked Ladies were in town with their greatest hits and holiday songs. It’s been one week since you looked at me, cocked your head to the side and said “I’m angry”. Oh yeah and I almost forgot. We visited one of the finest restaurants in Kitchener for some extra fine dining.
Coming up for the end of the month, we’ve begun our 365 Year in Review, a look back at how great the year was. Stay tuned for that and a look ahead too to 2013 – the first time since 1320 that we’ve had the numbers 0, 1, 2, and 3 in our year! (The next time will be 2031.)
When I look back on the year, I’ll remember it fondly.
Because it was a good year.
I’ll share some statistics about how 365-KW has grown. I’ll let you know about our network group and our business pages. And I’ll tell you about what else we are adding for the benefit of everyone who lives in KW. That’s right, we sponsor good things. We like to see good things getting done.
So that’s it for the post. I have to get out and do my Christmas shopping. I haven’t even started yet. The book has been keeping me busy.
