We Day Waterloo RegionWe Day Waterloo Region connects Martin Sheen, Liz Murray and Shawn Desman with 6,000 youth and educators to lead a global movement for change.

Join Craig and Marc Kielburger, world-renowned speakers and performers (Martin Sheen, Liz Murray and Shawn Desman) and a crowd of 6,000 passionate youth, when they come together as part of the movement to lead global change at Free The Children’s signature youth empowerment event We Day.

We Day speakers and performers include:

· Alex Ciccone – Canadian singer-songwriter

· Anastasia A – Canadian singer-songwriter

· Dr. Dave Williams –President and CEO at Southlake Regional Health Centre, Canadian physician, and Canadian astronaut

· Donisha Prendergast – Actress, artist and activist, and the granddaughter of Bob and Rita Marley

· Dr. James Orbinski – former international president of Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) and Chair of Global Health at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health

· Justin Nozuka– Canadian singer-songwriter

· Liz Murray – Author of the New York Times bestselling memoir, Breaking Night: My Journey from Homeless to Harvard

· Martin Sheen – Emmy and Golden Globe Award winning actor and activist

· Shawn Desman – Platinum selling and Juno Award winning recording artist

· Spencer West – Me to We motivational speaker and Free The Children ambassador

· These Kids Wear Crowns– Platinum selling electro dance-pop band

 

By attending the event, you will have access to:

· Film portions of the show and/or capture photos of speakers/performers

· Seating to watch the show

· Interviews with select speakers/performers (details to be confirmed in media accreditation packages)

· Speak to local students and educators in attendance about their We Day experience

· Space to file stories with wireless Internet access

 

We Day – a cutting edge movement of social change – ignites a year-long action program that educates, engages and empowers youth to become active global citizens. We Day is free of charge to the thousands of students and educators in attendance, thanks to the generous support of sponsors, in Waterloo Region, led by RIM. Young people earn their way into the event by committing to take action on at least one local and one global issue through Free The Children’s year long engagement programs. We Day Waterloo Region is made possible by Regional Title Sponsor RIM and presented by RBC.
