The Word On The Street
The Word On The Street is a national celebration of literacy and the written word. Each September, in communities coast to coast, the public is invited to participate in hundreds of author events, presentations and workshops and to browse a marketplace that boasts the best selection of Canadian books and magazines you’ll find anywhere.
There is always plenty to see and do at Canada’s largest book and magazine festival, and best of all, The Word On The Street and all of its events are FREE!
The Word On The Street Kitchener has confirmed a stellar line-up for the 2012 Festival including an appearance by Jian Ghomeshi, host of CBC Radio One’s popular national arts magazine show, Q.
Dozens of exhibitors representing Waterloo Regions vibrant literary scene will all in one place. Booksellers, libraries, literacy organizations, publishers and small presses create a unique experience for any book lover.
Kid’s Corner will have author appearances, celebrity readers, music, make and take crafts, and face painting. Visit the Heritage Canada Reading Rocks Tent and the Kitchener Waterloo Art Gallery in the Let’s Read Tent
The Kitchener Public Library is your connection to literacy organizations in the community. Visit Civic Square, learn how you can get involved in the local literacy community, and meet our local literacy groups.
After you check out all the activity up at City Hall, enter Hall’s Lane off Gaukel Street for Word in the Alley!
