KW Oktoberfest Thanksgiving Day Parade
Our annual Kitchener Waterloo Oktoberfest Thanksgiving Day Parade is a great parade. Thousands of people line the parade route each year to see the floats, bands and special entries.
Kitchener Waterloo Oktoberfest Thanksgiving Day Parade is one of the most spectacular Thanksgiving Day Parades in Canada. More than 150,000 people line King Street on Thanksgiving morning, eagerly awaiting the colourful floats, clowns and award winning marching bands from Canada and the United States.
The Parade route covers five kilometers from King and Erb Streets in Waterloo to King and Madison streets in Kitchener.
With bands from across North America, spectacular floats and more are featured in Canada’s largest Thanksgiving Day Parade. The Parade travels almost 5 km, entertaining a crowd of over 150,000 cheering spectators and is enjoyed nationally on the CTV Network by over 1.8 million viewers.
Don’t forget to bring your non-perishable food items to the parade. Volunteers will be picking them up along the parade route.
For the first time in the 41 year history of the Festival, the 150,000 spectators at the Thanksgiving Day Parade will be able to text in their votes for the newly created People’s Choice Float. Spectators simply text the code on the sides of each of the floats (eg: HANS12) to cast their vote for the interactive award, and they can vote as many times as they want!
