Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland GamesFergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games have something for the entire clan, even if you’re not Scottish. There is Celtic music, crafts for the kids, heavy events championships, bagpipes, drums, author appearances, bands, Highland dancing, storytelling, singing, clan information and heritage, beer tents, artisans and vendors galore.

Enjoy the best of Scotland without the airfare.

But wait there’s more. Some of the other events include a 10K run, the Burns supper, downtown Fergus and a tug-of-war.

The highlights of Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games are:


Friday Night Tattoo

The Tattoo is a traditional outdoor spectacle of music, light and action on the Main Field on Friday, August 10th at dusk starting with the Twilight Concert.  Pipe bands, the rallying of the Clans and a moving tribute to the Homeland. The audience is encouraged to pay tribute to the Scottish homeland with a beautiful candle “Lightin” ceremony.

The effects of dusk, smoke, candlelight and the castle backdrop plus the haunting cry of the bagpipes combine to produce a magical show. See this traditional Tattoo – truly an evening to remember.

General admission seating on bleachers. Lawn chairs are welcome.

Featuring 48th Highlanders of Canada Pipes & Drum, the Royal Regiment of Canada Band, and the American Originals Fife and Drum Corps.

A glimpse into the Festival Weekends tribute to the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812.

PLUS the fireworks finale courtesy of Fergus’ own internationally acclaimed David Whysall International Fireworks!

Heavy Events

Legendary Competitions to be held in Fergus in 2012

A hallmark of the highland games is the heavy event competition.  The Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games has been proud to present the best in traditional Scottish Highland Games athletic competitions.  This year promises to be no exception, The Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games are hosting the first Canadian Scottish Athletic Federation (CSAF) Womens Championship. Twelve ladies from all over Canada will come and compete in a multitude of different events each day, culminating in declaring a winner on Sunday.

The International Highland Games Federation (IHGF) has also chosen Fergus to host the Professional Mens World Championships.  The Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games will host ten of the top men from around the world at this years Games.

If you are new to the Games or if you have never attended a Highland Games, you will find the competitions to be both fascinating and awe inspiring.
