Princess Cinema presents Steve Jobs: The Lost Interview
I’m a Mac. Are you a PC? Doesn’t matter either way, this might still interest you. Apple computers weren’t always the be all and end all that they are today. Until recently in fact Macs have been a niche player, only for the hipster coolios who did desk top publishing and graphic design. It wasn’t until ipod that mac started to catch on with the general public.
In 1995, during the making of the TV series “Triumph of the Nerds” about the birth of the PC, Bob Crinkly did a memorable hour-long interview with Steve Jobs. It had been ten years since Jobs had left Apple following a bruising struggle with John Sculley, the CEO he had brought into the company. Steve Jobs was now running NeXT, the niche computer company he had founded since leaving Apple.
During the interview, Jobs was at his charismatic best — witty, outspoken, visionary. but in the end, only a part of the interview was used in the series and the rest was thought lost. Recently a VHS copy of the interview was found in the director’s garage. Now, restored with modern technology, and put into context by Directly Bob Crinkly, the entire interview is screening at select theaters.
