The WORKS Gourmet Burger Bistro Waterloo celebrates grand opening in Waterloo with FREE FOOD

works burgerYesterday, 365 things to do in Kitchener Waterloo was invited to a pre-launch lunch at The Works Gourmet Burger Bistro. The food was fabulous – who doesn’t love burgers and fries, onion rings and milk shakes? The atmosphere was awesome too. They’ve done a great job renovating the old Janet Lynn’s stodgy decor into a modern funky industrial burger kitchen. Yesterday, you may remember was a gorgeous spring day. The garage doors were rolled up and Mike and I enjoyed the sights and sounds of King Street in Uptown Waterloo as we tucked into our complimentary lunch.

We both had elk, instead of ground beef, or the other patties of choice. I almost got the ground turkey but then I thought “When was the last time I had elk?” –  “Never!” and it was delicious. I also recommend the “Bold Slaw”, which was creamy and succulent and make sure you get a milkshake, which is also creamy and succulent, but in a different way and flavour – I had chocolate with Oreo cookie crumbs.

Mike had the sweet potato strings which were salty, sweet and crispy. I always say that there’s nothing as boring as listening to someone describe a meal they had, so here’s the good part – go have your own free lunch.

Looks good. Maybe we can go there when we're in town.
