KW Procession of the Species

procession of the species The KW Procession of the Species Celebration, is a series of free art and nature related workshops that lead up to a free parade. People in costumes and floats of various species  gather at noon for the drum circle with Nii Addico at the Waterloo Public Square and then head down King street (at 12:30pm) to the Victoria Park in Kitchener. Procession of the Species is a free celebration of art and the natural world started in Olympia, Washington in 1995.  It is a celebration of the natural world and earth day.  There are no motorized vehicles or live pets in the procession unless needed for mobility, and no written words.

Procession of the Species is a community arts-based Earth Day celebration where people flood the street to flaunt their favourite species or natural element whether it is flora, fauna or fungi.
