The Works Gourmet Burger Bistro – Waterloo Worksburger
The Works Gourmet Burger Bistro – Worksburger -is the world best gourmet burger in your neighbourhood. Alasdair and I (the Agents of Change) got invited to a pre-opening event yesterday. We met the President and Chief Burgerhead Andy O’Brien, and the second in command, Bruce “Kamikaze” Miller. The mayor was there, as was Carlos and some other radio and newspaper personalities. But nothing and no one could upstage the main event – the burgers.
As you know, both Alasdair and I are gourmands of the burger, we are burger gourmands and I have to say the first bite of my burger at the Works Gourmet Burger Bistro was an experience unlike most other burger experiences. The Works Gourmet Burger Bistro makes the kind of burger you’d make for yourself at home if you had the freshest meat, the best bacon, the finest spices, the time and care to make it right and you’d have to know how to cook too. The burger I had was unbelievably awesome.
The Works Gourmet Burger Bistro has hundreds of burgers to choose from. They have the “Beverly Hills Lawsuit” which has a fried egg on it, the “Crappy Tire” with a grilled pineapple ring, the “Field of Dreams” with grilled wild mushrooms and gouda cheese and the “Stockyard” with crushed peppercorn crust and dijon haze sauce with swiss.
I was in a bit of a haze half way through my burger and looking at the menu. The “Hold the Phone” is the strangest burger. It comes with peanut butter, cream cheese and jack cheese. Both Alasdair and I had the “Smokey Mountain”, which is dripping with smokey bbq sauce, jack cheese and bacon strips. They really have hundreds of burgers to choose from and toppings galore: sour cream, spinach, banana peppers, sun-dried tomatoes, avocado, fried onions, eggplant and “hotter than hell” sauce.
The patties have choices too. You can have ground beef, whole chicken breast, ground turkey, veggie, portobello mushroom cap or elk.
Elk. Yes, domestic elk is on the menu.
To wash down this tasty burger they have a good beer menu as well as classic milkshakes. The shakes, like the burgers are extremely impressive in variety. The unusual choices might be kiwi, pina colada, creamcicle and pine apple banana.
It’s quite the place, watch for the construction. they will be installing roll down garage doors along King Street to give the restaurant an open air atmosphere when the weather is nice.
