Julie Oakes: Swounds At The Clay & Glass

swoundsThe Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery is delighted to present Julie Oakes: Swounds. This seven-part exhibition of large-scale installations opens April 10. An opening reception will be held 1:00-5:00pm. Ms. Oakes will give an informal introduction to the work at 1:30pm. The exhibition continues until June 26, 2011.

This exhibition is generously supported by The Kitchener and Waterloo Community Foundation – Musagetes Fund.

Julie Oakes has been using spiritual narratives derived from Eastern iconography in her recent series The Buddha Composed. Continuing with the spiritual, but turning her attention to biblical themes, Swounds is a seven-part installation that addresses the fragility and individuality of each life.
