Waterloo’s Empire Theatre

Waterloo Empire Theater OpensThe Empire Theatre opened last weekend in Waterloo. It’s in “the Boardwalk” shopping and event complex off Ira Needles Boulevard. The Empire Theatre takes us back to when theatres were part of the event: rich, plush, big, the living room of the city. The Empire boasts 10 screens and can seat 1800 people in total.

It costs a little more to see a movie there but the experience is worth it. The theatre features “Empire Extra,” a 297-seat auditorium, which has a larger, curved screen and a sound system that was specifically designed for enhanced audio and is the first of its kind in the world. Empire Extra also features reserved seating.

Waterloo Empire Theatres is 100 per cent digital and because of this digital transformation, the theatre will offer a wider variety of programming, including screenings of opera, sporting events, and classic movies.
